============================ Evaluate the idea ~ "Viruses Know No Borders ; They are a catastrophe and can befall our species" ============================= Indubitably, Covid - 19 is a horrendous natural pandemic which has taken a gazillion of people’s precious lives and has plunged the colossal world into an unprecedented crisis. For nearly a year, estimable scientists have been striving to de - activate this virus, (which has turned our blissful sunny days into a decrepit state), to rekindle the delectable feeling of life. According to UN Secretary General António Guterres ~ " the current coronavirus outbreak is the biggest challenge for the world since World War Two and could bring a recession that probably has no parallel in the recent past". Hence, we, sorrowfully, are still at the start of the Covid - 19 pandemic and we aspire we will do all that is needed to bring the crisis to an end, and be better prepared for inevitable future outbreaks. _______________ For many years, scientists have warned of the likelihood of a rapidly spreading new virus, crossing from animals to humans – and the urgent need for governments to prepare. Unfortunately, the world ignored these warnings. In a matter of months, this virus has disrupted every aspect of life, in every part of the world. The IMF predicts this will cost ~ "the global economy $12 trillion and the global economy is clearly more shaky, with sluggish growth".Besides, the World Bank warned it as a ~ "significant economic pain". So, Complacency is no longer an option. ___________________ " An immediate co-ordinated health response is imperative to suppress transmission and end the pandemic ". °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° ~ The UN Boss António Guterres ~ _____________ About 10 weeks into the global eruption of Covid-19, the notion began to spread that the virus might not be nature’s creation. Rather, it's a bio - weapon made to make us scary, to befall our species. Instead, since the Covid-19 crisis, many governments have doubled down on blame-games and brinkmanship. The world’s rival superpowers are trading denunciations, closing their consulates, and brushing up against each others’ fleets in the South China Sea. In 2020, bio-weapons are not our biggest problem. In fact, images from Hiroshima and Nagasaki made people around the world say never again to the bomb.our worst impressions of the Covid-19 pandemic could be a similar caution. It is a rehearsal of a kind of future war, one that mobilises not tanks or submarines but the frontiers of scientific research. ______________________________ Finally, this crisis will show that there is no future in narrow nationalism. Viruses know no borders or allegiances. To work,(this will have to be a global effort), requiring trusted and effective partnerships. We’ll need to find better ways of detecting new diseases and emerging outbreaks. Infrastructure and funding need to be ready so that scientists can rapidly deepen our understanding and develop effective tools. We must remember that, until every country is protected, we are all at jeopardy. Answered by Birds of the sky (2 Golds) Tuesday, 01 Sep 2020, 10:52 PM |
