Due to the negative effects of global climate change and unplanned land use, unfavorable conditions are being created in the mountainous regions of the world, said the President. Abdul Hamid. "Climate change, on the one hand, has resulted in heavy rains, droughts, storms, and on the other hand, deforestation, deforestation - both of which are upsetting the natural balance in the hilly areas," he said.
The President said this in a message given on the occasion of 'International Mountain Day'. Saturday (December 11) is International Mountain Day declared by the United Nations.
Referring to the scenic hill districts as attractive destinations for travelers, the President said, "In order to enable tourists to enjoy the beauty of the mountains in a comfortable and safe manner, extensive infrastructural development is taking place in the region, which is crucial for improving the living standards of the people." However, in this case, the protection of the environment must be considered.
He said, ‘The diverse topography, natural beauty and colorful cultural heritage of the hill dwellers in the hilly areas of Bangladesh strongly attracts not only the Bengalis but also the world. By living with nature, the people of the hilly areas are conserving the biodiversity as well as contributing to the protection of the environment.
