What is a computer network? A computer network is a connection system in which two or more computers are connected together. Connected computers share each other's hardware, software and resources, and build communication systems. Components of a computer network: The elements in this network are essentially 5. 1. Application software, 2.Network software and 3.Network Hardware. Network Types: There are three types of networks depending on the scope of the workplace. Namely: 1. Local Area Network (LAN), 2. Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) and 3. Wide Area Network (WAN). 1. Local Area Network: Local area network or local area network is a digital communication system. Its geographical location is smaller than that of MAN and WAN Networks. In this case, the speed of information exchange is higher than MAN and WAN. 2. Metropolitan Area Network: Metropolitan Area Network or Metropolitan Area Network is a network larger than LAN. Its geographical boundaries extend to a metropolitan city. 3. Wide Area Network: Wide area network or Wide area network is a world wide network system. The network starts from a few kilometers to thousands of miles. This network is basically a combination of LAN and MAN. The speed of data transfer over WAN is lower than that of LAN and MAN. Answered by Birds of the sky (2 Golds) Tuesday, 01 Oct 2019, 12:34 AM |
