Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Institute of Water and Flood Management (IWFM) BUET for M.Sc. Studies in Climate Change in the Context of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Institute of Water and Flood Management (IWFM), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) announces recruitment of 2nd batch of SAWA Fellows in the M.Sc. (WRD) program at IWFM, BUET. The fellowship program is a continuation of 15 M.Sc. Fellowships provided previously under the IDRC-SAWA Fellowship Project (iwfm.buet.ac.bd; www.saciwaters.org/sawafellowships) over a 4-year period (2013-2016). SAWA Fellowships are now being provided by IWFM, BUET under the IDRC- South Asian Water (SAWA) Leadership Program on Climate Change with financial support from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada (www.idrc.ca). The other academic partner institutions of the project from South Asian region are Anna University from India, University of Peradeniya from Sri Lanka and Nepal Engineering College from Nepal. The project is administered by SaciWATERs (South Asian Consortium for Interdisciplinary Water Resources Studies), India (www.saciwaters.org). The research focus of the SAWA Fellows will be Climate Change, Gender and Water Security in the Context of IWRM. The overall research outline of the leadership program can be found at the IWFM website (iwfm.buet.ac.bd). SAWA Fellowship Three full-time student fellowships will be provided for pursuing M.Sc. (WRD) (Tk. 25,000/- per month). Fellows will have opportunities to attend regional workshops, gain working experience as interns and form network with fellows in other partner institutions of South Asia. Fellowships will be provided to women candidates only. Admission Requirement For admission in M.Sc. (WRD), an applicant must have either a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/ Water Resources Engineering/ Agricultural Engineering/ Urban and Regional Planning/ Environmental Science/ Environmental Science and Management/ Soil, Water and Environment/ Geography and Environment/ Geology/ Disaster Management or its equivalent having a minimum GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 or P.G. Dip. (WRD) or its equivalent having a minimum GPA of 2.65 out of 4.0 from any recognized institution. In addition, all other rules and regulations of BUET regarding admission will be applicable. Deadlines for Application To apply for admission and fellowship, an applicant must complete the online Application Form using the website http://www.buet.ac.bd, and submit the hardcopy of the completed Application Form together with the supporting documents to the BUET Registrar’s office within the period from 28 October to 5 November, 2018. Selection Procedure Candidates for fellowship will be selected on the basis of two stage written examination/interview, one for admission and the other for fellowship. The schedule of examination/interview will be announced within a week from the deadline for application and can be seen at the IWFM notice board, and IWFM website.
