Anxiety is more prevalent among students than boys and boys than girls. And about 91 percent of the highly educated people taking the survey are concerned about future employment. Concerns over employment While economic growth in Bangladesh is increasing, employment is not increasing in that way. About 78 percent of the country's youth are concerned about their employment. This concern is most common among highly educated young people. According to the First Light Youth Survey, 77.6 percent of young people are concerned about employment. Anxiety is more prevalent among students than boys and boys than girls. And about 91 percent of the highly educated people taking the survey are concerned about future employment. But overall concerns over employment have dropped slightly compared to two years ago. In the 2018 survey, 82.3 percent of young people were concerned about employment, which has dropped to 77.6 percent this time. In this year's survey, 85.4 percent of young people think that unemployment is increasing day by day. Unemployment is on the rise, the highest of the educated. Nearly 98 percent of graduates who pass the survey or more educated think unemployment is on the rise. But overall unemployment is rising - the idea that there is a slight decline over two years ago. Two years ago, about 93 percent of young people thought unemployment was rising. According to the International Labor Organization (ILO) rules, people who get less than an hour's work a week for wages are considered unemployed. According to the latest Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) survey, the number of unemployed in the country is around 27 million. Of these, more than four lakh are university-level unemployed. However, according to a report by the Planning Commission's General Economics Department (GED), 'Study on Employment, Productivity and Sectoral Investment in Bangladesh', the number of pseudobacters in the country is 15 million. Young people (15 to 29 years old) who are not in work, not in education or training, are being called pseudobacter. The GED report says that this huge population is not being exploited. The survey of the first light survey of 6 experts and 14 young people was conducted. In this qualitative survey, experts in the sector said that there is a shortage of university students who need qualifications to get a job. They say certificates are more important than education in schools, universities in the country. With a handful of sectors playing a major role in the country's economic growth, it is not possible for them to create so much employment. Experts suggest conducting a survey to determine what kind of skilled manpower is needed in the country. Experts say the students, after four or five years of study, will get a certificate and these academics will automatically give them jobs. But they have no idea how competitive the job market is. Just a university degree is not enough for a job. There is a shortage of skills and skills needed to get a job. There is also a reluctance among young people to seek technical training to enhance their skills. However, technical training is essential in becoming an entrepreneur or in employment. Experts believe that young people need some skills in order to get a job and survive in the competitive labor market. These include leadership, communication and innovative skills or soft skills, language skills and technical skills. These skills are needed in the professional life. There is a lack of initiative to enhance such skills. Besides, it is difficult for young people to be entrepreneurs because they do not have enough capital. Again educated young people do not get salary as expected and do not get job oriented. Various effects of unemployment According to experts, the negative impact of unemployment is far-reaching. Unemployment can lead to depression among young people, lack of confidence, overtime through social media, drug addiction, crime and violence. Unemployment leads to incidents such as youth being entangled in politics, party cadre, covert killings and disappearances. Where is the barrier to employment growth? Experts participating in the survey believe that technological excellence is a factor in increasing unemployment. In recent years, the use of state-of-the-art machinery in the garment factories has increased production but also reduced employment opportunities. A handful of sectors are playing a key role in Bangladesh's economic growth. About 80 percent of the export revenue comes from the garment sector. About 22 million young people are joining the labor market every year. But it is not possible for the readymade garment sector to create employment for these young people, either single or a handful. To create more employment opportunities, other sectors need to be developed. Experts say entrepreneurs can create jobs. But various issues, including unhelpful policies and difficult terms, are hindering entrepreneurship. Create employment opportunities abroad Experts emphasize foreign language education in creating work opportunities abroad. They say that foreign languages can be learned not only in English but also in other languages. For example, Bangladesh has recently signed an agreement with Japan to export skilled manpower in 14 sectors. Do these things Answered by Birds of the sky (2 Golds) Tuesday, 24 Dec 2019, 12:04 PM |
